Photography shoot, closing, and event score card

As the film festival came to an end, I gathered everyone outside and took some pictures. The photographs came outFandomonium in Tampa Bay. Click to return to the beginning of the review here on Tampa Bay Film. well, and one of my favorites was the one of Andy and Rick for the cover of this review. The only regret that I have about the photography is that I did not get more pictures of the guest of honor, actress Joyce Meadows, or at least some pictures of her by herself. I’ll have to chalk that up to a lesson learned, I suppose.

Fandomonium in Tampa Bay Film Festival Event 001 Scorecard

Concept (1-10): 7
A pretty good concept for an even and film festival by Andy Lalino and Rick Danford, although I have to admit that I am not crazy about the branding. Still, it works, and works well. I was really impressed by their art direction with the branding, too.

Venue (1-10): 6
This was my second visit to the “Candy” venue, and this time, I did not get lost because I knew where I was going. I like the Tampa Pitcher Show as a venue. It works. Why do I call it Candy? Because that is the sign over its actual location.

Vendors (1-10): 5
This is average because they really did not have a lot of venders and people selling anything. The venue lobby can easily handle six to eight times more if you pack them in tight with rows of tables.

Organization (1-10): 7
Not bad, although I wish that they would make a program available, which should be a no-brainier because the organizers know what is going on, and they should communicate it. It would make covering the event easier, too.

Entertainment (1-10): 8
There was some solid entertainment at this event and film festival. It was fun!

Attendance (1-10): 6
A little above average. This event deserved a better attendance, but there was a good crowd there.

Features (1-10): 7
The interview with actress Joyce Meadows by Joel Wynkoop was EPIC. Because of bad timing, I was not able to set up a tripod and had to shoot the over 40 minute interview freehand, which was painful and tiring, but so worth it. It also led to a situation where I had to shoot both video and photography at the same time, which I was not sure that I could do, but pulled it off.

Admission Value (1-10): 8
Worth missing a day of work over and attending. It was fun, and I’d attend again.

Overall Event Score (1-10): 8
For the debut of what could be a flagship event and film festival, it went well. This event was pretty good, and well worth attending.
